Writing Workshop with Joan Anim-Addo
Institute of Contemporary Arts

This workshop is designed to lead participants to an encounter with poetry by M. NourbeSe Philip and to their own experimental writing arising from the poetic investigation. Using M. NourbeSe Philip’s poetry as a basis, participants will be invited to engage and push at the boundaries of their own writing skills. The workshop will be led by poet, librettist, and professor Emeritus, Joan Anim-Addo.
Joan Anim-Addo’s poetry includes the collections Janie, Cricketing Lady and Haunted by History. A librettist and scholar, she is currently Emeritus Professor and Director of the Centre for Caribbean and Diaspora Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. She is Associate Editor of Callaloo, Journal of African Diaspora Arts and Letters. She is Editor of Blacklines, the journal of Black British Writing, and she has recently joined the Editorial Board of Transition Magazine.
