ICA is closed from the 30 May – 3 June inclusive.
It’s 1980 and Argentina is under fearsome military rule when private banker Yvan (Fabrizio Rongione) flies in from Geneva. He’s in Buenos Aires to replace René, his compatriot and banking colleague, who has disappeared – or, perhaps, been disappeared by a government with few moral scruples. As Yvan finds himself plunged into a dangerous society thick with conspiracy and intrigue, he’s torn between looking after the needs of his wealthy clients and his own safety – both an engine and a cog in a sinister game of capitalist colonisation.
Co-written by Mariano Llinás (La Flor) and featuring a wonderfully balanced cast, Andreas Fontana’s debut feature is both a gripping thriller and a moral investigation into life on the wrong side of history.
More screenings of Azor from 29 October – 4 November.
