Daspu: Putas Pret-a-Porter, Davida, Brazil, 52 min.

Decriminalised Futures presents a screening of international sex worker-made films from Brazil, Thailand and Germany. The three films, Daspu: Putas Pret-a-Porter by Davida, Last Rescue in Siam by Empower Thailand, and Hurenamt by Objects of Desire, all respond to their respective political and social struggles with irreverence and dark humour. Introduced by sex worker activist, artist and filmmaker Cass Traitor.

There will be BSL interpretation for the introduction, and all films will be captioned.
Programme:

Daspu: Putas Pret-a-Porter, Davida, Brazil, 52 min.
Hurenamt, Objects of Desire, Germany, 5 min.
Last Rescue in Siam, Empower, Thailand, 11 min.
Davida is an NGO supporting sex workers in Brazil, founded by Gabriela Leite after years of demonstrating against police brutality.

DASPU (of the whores) is a clothing line and political catwalk that uses joy and irony to challenge puta stigma while breaking standards of beauty, sexuality, gender and sex.

Objects of Desire is a collaborative project by sex workers and artists archiving sex workers’ stories through objects. Their last exhibition took place at the Schwules Museum, Berlin in 2019.

Hurenamt is an informative video on the Prostituiertenschutzgesetz (Prostitution Protection Act) – a law introduced in Germany in 2017 which requires sex workers to register for a permit and certificate to work, colloquially known as a Hurenpass (Whore’s Pass). In this short film, the Bureaucrat-Witch explains how you can register.
